Frequently Asked Questions

  • Acupuncture is a form of traditional Chinese medicine that dates back thousands of years. It involves the insertion of sterile, single use, filiform needles that are the size of a human hair. Needles are then placed into specific points on the body based on the individual needs of the patient.

  • If you are needle sensitive you will be happy to hear that acupuncture does not hurt! Most patients report feeling a dull sensation at or around the point of insertion, if anything at all.

After that you will relax on the table and receive a combination of acupuncture, cupping, tui na (East Asian massage), and heat therapy. Patients are typically left to rest with needles for around 20-30 minutes. Follow-up treatments consist of a shorter intake and continuation of treatment.
